Peace and quiet
The Riiho Guest House is in the heart of the most beautiful part of Central Finland – a surprisingly short distance from everywhere. The charming village of Riiho has been designated a heritage landscape. This is also reflected in the genuine, warm atmosphere at the Riiho Guest House. The Guest House is surrounded by fields, lakes and the wilderness. Here you will enjoy a sense of community and a friendly atmosphere as part of a small or larger group.
Atmospheric facilities
The main building of the Riiho Guest House is a beautiful, light and spacious village school that is over 100 years old. We offer a genuinely rustic atmosphere and large rooms. We have group-work facilities indoors and outdoors, and the capacity to serve food to around 130 people at a time. In other words, we offer an ideal venue for events, camps and courses for families and work and hobby groups.
The best food
We serve pure country cooking, made from scratch in our own kitchen. Locally sourced ingredients ensure its good flavour. We bake every day, so you’ll already be welcomed by the scent of freshly baked bread and pastries in the hallway. We treat our guests to freshly baked bread rolls, doughnuts, traditional archipelago-style bread, sweet buns and many other delicacies.
Information about the Guest House
The Riiho Guest House is in the village of Riiho in Keuruu, Central Finland. Jyväskylä is an hour’s drive away, and a drive to Tampere takes only a little longer. We are also close to southern Finland, and our guests often come from many different directions. We are in the middle of everything. At the Riiho Guest House, you can leave the hustle and bustle of daily life behind and focus on relaxing and meaningful interaction.
The main building of the Riiho Guest House was completed in 1909 and served as the local primary school until 1993. The school building was then acquired by Anri and Tuomo Riihonen, who established the Riiho camp centre. There are organised camps for children and young people in the summer and courses, training events, meetings and festive events in the winter.
The Riiho Guest House is often praised for its special atmosphere. Many guests gasp with admiration the moment they enter the building. People attending a course or a training event can fully focus on learning in our peaceful setting with well-organised services. People of all ages love our food, and adults appreciate the opportunity to simply enjoy food that they did not have to prepare themselves.
The peace and quiet of the countryside can be a powerful experience for people who live in cities. For example, one camp participant reported that they had never been this deep in a forest, nor had they experienced the kind of silence you can enjoy on top of the Himmaanmäki observation tower near the Guest House. The observation deck is 202 metres above sea level, and you can experience total peace and quiet there in calm weather.
The Riiho Guest House and its partners offer memorable experiences. Our partners provide wilderness guide services, fireworks, a pampering massage and a smoke sauna with its gentle warmth. The wilderness guide also organises trips such as draisine trips, which last for several days. In addition, our partners offer all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles, as well as opportunities for horse riding. Wilderness guide services are available in the area near the Riiho Guest House or in separately agreed locations. Horses can also be transported to other locations. In addition, our selection of activities includes fishing and hunting.
You are warmly welcome!
