ISO KIRJA – The place for rest and hobbies

Beautiful lake view and peace of nature – what else would you need for your holiday! 

In Iso Kirja, in the heart of Central Finland you can find services for all kinds of campers. There is a campsite with log cottages, a caravan park, tent camping area, newly renovated hotel rooms as well as the restaurant Iso Pata and SiCafé, the summer café with reception services. 

Hotel and Cottages 

In Iso Kirja you can sleep tight and rest well. Stay close to the campus area in cosy and newly renovated hotel rooms for 1-4 persons or convey the joy of simple relaxation in the style of traditional Finnish summer cottage for 3–12 persons. After a long day you can relax and rent the traditional lakeside wooden sauna close to the cottages.

Camping 

The capacity of the camping is massive. It serves especially families with children and the ones who look for the peace of nature, safety, open spaces and slightly isolated locations with recreational activities during summer as well as winter seasons.  

The reception service desk, SiCafé offers snacks, beverages and coffee during the summer season (1.6.-15.8.) from Monday to Thursday between 3pm to 9pm and Friday to Sunday between 12pm to 9pm. Outside these times the camping payment will be made through the website or with mobile devices (QR-code) according to the instructions found next to the reception. Please check the rates during summer events.  

Iso Heitto – disc golf 

The renewed Iso Heitto – disc golf course is one of the best ones in Finland, located in a diverse area with well-maintained lawn, sparse forest, water features and hills. In the middle of the course there is a toilet and you can relax by the lakeside lean-to enjoying snacks before heading back to the course.  

Iso Heitto – disc golf AM is suitable for beginners and the PRO-layout challenges also the professionals. These two 18-holes courses are next to each other and can be played side by side. Nine of the tracks will be open also during the winter season. The discs can be rented or bought from the SiCafé (summer season) or from Iso Kirja´s reception during the office hours (winter season). 

Meetings and Events 

In this beautiful area surrounded by the lake Pohjoisjärvi is held annually numerous conferences, concerts, camps and trainings. The biggest events are Juhannuskonferenssi, Opistoseurat and Youth Celebration.  

Also the flexible meeting facilities serves all your versatile needs. We offer for example a cosy setting for family gatherings. The lunch restaurant Iso Pata is committed to cook the delicious flavours for celebrations and meetings.  

• The fireplace room of the large lakeside sauna is a popular meeting venue for smaller events and meetings. There is a place for 12 persons with safe distance, and 27 persons without tables.  
• Iso Pata with a place for 40 persons with safe distance. There is a video projector, big screen and audio devices. 
• Log church with a place for 40 persons with safe distance and for 55 persons without tables. There is audio and presentation technology.  

SiCafé 

SiCafé was originally located in an old farmhouse for pigs (sika in Finnish), where also its name is saved from. In 2005 it was relocated next to the camping´s reception, and nowadays the café has a place for 40 guests and a cosy terrace.  

Enjoy here the savoury or sweet snacks and during the summer camps also available a small variety of groceries.  

Tent factory 

Iso Kirja tent factory is the only one in Finland to produce the fabric tents and known as one of the most reliable places to rent a tent with over 40 years of experience.  

Rentals 

Iso Kirja rents equipment for smaller events as well as for larger conferences. In addition to tents, we can provide you with benches, tables, field cooker and other event equipment.
